In August, the 20/20 Foresight Executive Search team of recruitment specialists successfully completed a placement for a distinguished Chief Financial Officer position with a nationally recognized real estate development and investment company headquartered in the Midwest. Since its founding more than three decades ago, this prestigious firm has grown from a regionally focused investment company into a full-service development, construction and operating entity with a national scope. 

This influential firm develops and invests in both commercial and residential real estate projects, with a core focus on retail and multi-family properties. The company currently owns more than 50 assets across the country and plans to develop 10-15 retail initiatives and six apartment communities over the next year.

The dynamic CFO role is an integral member of the firm’s Executive Management Team reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for development of the company’s financial management strategy and the advancement of the organization’s overall strategic goals. The focus of the position centers around planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities for the firm, including overseeing direct reports across controllership, capital services, accounting, financial services and retail property management. 

Leadership is a key component of this multifaceted position, both in advising senior management regarding financial planning, budgeting, investment priorities and policy matters, as well as establishing and monitoring staff performance and employee goals to ensure company-wide compliance and sustainable success.

In a brief period of time, we sourced a top candidate who matched this position’s specific requirements, including possessing a minimum of 15 years of previous experience in financial leadership roles in real estate development, along with experience designing and implementing internal controls for local and remote operations, taxation expertise and an entrepreneurial mindset.
